At the end of September, I was lucky enough to have my parents come in for a visit. Three travelers reunited, just looking for a nice, relaxing weekend with, may I say, excellent company.
First up, we had to try a new bar (obviously). Thursday evening, we made our way to Hale's Ales. Though I'd enjoyed Hale's beer before, I had never been inside the brewery. As usual, Seattle brews (and food) did not disappoint.

I left work early on Friday and we made our way to Bellingham via the scenic route of Chuckanut Drive. Though the skies were overcast, they added a certain beauty to the drive. That evening, at a Hawaiian joint in town, we enjoyed some pizza that would be proud to call itself pizza in Chicago. Who knew! For a night cap, we stopped by Kulshan Brewery. I enjoyed the TransPorter (HA!) while my dad partook in the Dude Man Wheat Ale.

Saturday morning, we visited Whatcom Falls Park. So many beautiful waterfalls in such a short hike. If only Christina could have been with us!
Next, onto the town of Bellingham to enjoy a farmer's market, Boundary Bay Brewery, and a nice walk around the beautiful town. One of my favorite stops was Mallard Ice Cream where I enjoyed root beer ice cream for the first time in, at least, 15 years. It wasn't as magical as my childhood remembered it to be, but it was still pretty darn delicious. :)

For our last stop of the day, we traveled to the scenic town of La Conner. No need to tell you how beautiful it is, just take a look at the pictures!
Sunday was spent exactly as it should have been - watching the Bears game. Felt fantastic to bring some of Sweet Home Chicago to the Pacific Northwest!
